It’s not new to us, UX & Product Designers, that Figma, while announcing new features in its CONFIG event, is slowly trying to be an Everything Tool to build new digital products rather than being only a tool for Design. And deep down our design, marketing, and development team at Smartters is somewhat supportive of this transition.
Historically, Figma has focused on and simplified its features which are most necessary for a UI designer and unavailable on other platforms. From Auto Layout, Multi Select, Variables, and Dev mode to FigJam and Figma Slides, every feature is a hit and brings together different teams of a company, boosting the work pace.
This year’s CONFIG 2025 is pretty much the same as every year except for the update. It's the biggest update ever made to Figma. With multiple new products targeting a whole new range of markets, Figma is getting into a face-off with big players from other domains.

At CONFIG 2025, Figma launched a series of new products, which are:
Figma Sites
Figma Make
Figma Buzz
Figma Draw
A new Grid System
Let’s dive into those products and see how to utilise and take advantage of them.
Figma Sites

The most hyped topic from Config 2025 was undoubtedly Figma Sites. As a designer, who doesn’t want his/her designs to get published to the Web with just One Click? Now with Figma Sites, it is possible. While its interface, settings and experience are somewhat similar to those of Framer’s, still Designing, Prototyping & Publishing a website using this single tool is phenomenal.
Designers can utilise its basic features, such as responsive designs using the New Grid system, Breakpoint options and Autolayout.
As designers are familiar with Figma’s Component & Variant system architecture, and it’s also supported here, they can understand the real advantage of using these.
As it gets published as a real Web URL, designers can now use it as a Prototyping tool that gives a real-like look and feel.
Figma also stated that they will be including Advanced Prototyping & CMS in the future, using which designers can add custom code for sophisticated animations or can utilise Figma Make to handle the coding part, while they can play with real data with the CMS.
Figma Make

With the Config 2025 updates and new tools like Figma Make, Figma has taken its tool to another level. It allows designers to create basic Logics and Interactive Components without even Coding or visiting any No-code platform.
Sounds exciting, right?
But the use case it provides is far more exciting. Our team is now able to create interactive prototypes with conditional flows by just the use of Prompts in simple language.
It may be creating prototypes to demonstrate form validations or showing different onboarding flows for a multi-user type system and micro-interactions as simple as hover effects. And what's interesting is that we can demonstrate user flows with actual data logics and are able to showcase how it will work in real life if a user selects an option and the respective interaction or flow is followed.
This makes stakeholder/client demos far more convincing, and clients can feel the product rather than just viewing it. It’s saving the team time and making usability testing faster and more meaningful.
Figma Buzz

Figma Buzz is a new workspace within Figma built specifically for creating on-brand marketing assets; think social media posts, email graphics, event banners, ads, and more.
It's not just another design tool; it's a collaborative content creation hub designed to bridge the gap between designers and marketers.
Buzz brings the speed of tools like Canva with the brand consistency and design power of Figma.
Here’s how you can leverage Figma Buzz effectively, whether you’re part of a small creative team or a large marketing department.
Figma Buzz is perfect for building:
Eye-catching social media graphics (Instagram posts, stories, LinkedIn carousels)
Engaging email banners and promotional headers
Clean event posters, digital ads, and website pop-ups
You can start with a blank layout or pick from ready-made templates that align with your brand.
Figma Draw

While Figma worked like a Vector Graphics tool previously, it still felt way too structured, and it has no advanced vector editing capability. And our team at Smartters does have a long-standing history with this, where we used Figma as our primary tool for design, but for illustrations & digital marketing posts, it just got used as a compositing tool.
We always liked its fast, Freeform Canvas where we can create multiple artboards quickly to try, but to do illustrations we used Illustrator and Inkscape. We did our work on Illustrator, then copy-pasted on the Figma artboard. It really was a headache at that time.
Also, if someone has used the advanced Boolean or shape-making tools from Illustrator, Inkscape, CorelDRAW or Affinity, they can understand how horrible it felt to use Figma.
But with Figma Draw, they have added features like:
A new Shape Builder
Toolbelt
Multi-select for Vectors
Dynamic Stroke System where the Width can be variable
Multiple texture and noise effects
Pattern Fills
Progressive Blur
Rotation Origin
With a feature set like this, Figma is now no less than a fully fledged Vector Graphic Tool, where every designer can now utilise these to create a complete brand identity.
Who imagined Figma with features like Shape Builder, Rotation Origin and Progressive Blur? Now combined with Figma’s component & variable system, it's not a joke anymore.
New Grid System

Another feature which stood out for us is the new grid system. We used to rely on plugins or manual setups of nested auto layouts to get responsive design behaviour, but now with this feature of Nested Grids, Smart Snapping, and Adaptive Layout Preview, we can design layouts for multiple breakpoints more efficiently directly within Figma.
We can now create Grid Systems and save them as presets for use in different projects, which helps us in maintaining consistent spacing systems across a system. And can now quickly switch between mobile, tablet, and desktop grids by creating multiple breakpoints using different frame sizes or constraints.
With the Snap-to-Grid feature, it is easy to nest grids and frames inside frames with proper spacing and Pixel-perfect consistency. The Fluid Grid, on the other hand, scales based on percentage widths and gutters. which is great for testing how content adjusts when the frame resizes, and it works more seamlessly with the CSS Grid concept.
These features bring Figma closer to real-world Web Layout behaviour, creating less friction in translating Design to Code. Now we are not just designing pretty screens anymore; we are thinking and creating for Systems and Responsiveness, which makes prototyping faster.
Conclusion
Figma is turning from a static design tool into a true interactive product, building an ecosystem. The line between design and development just got a lot thinner, which is really exciting for us. Figma is no longer just about designing interfaces. It’s about designing experiences that are interactive, testable, and closer than ever to real-world use.
