An engagement starts with discovery: what the product has to do, who it is for and what can wait for a later release. Design comes next, with wireframes and a clickable prototype you can test before any code is written. Development runs in short sprints with a working build to review at the end of each one, followed by testing, release to the app stores or your servers, and support after launch.
The builds in our case studies took between 2 and 6 months from kickoff to launch, 3.6 months on average. Focused first releases such as Picklspot and Gods Own Diva sat at the short end; Vendmat and Enfix took the longest.
