Airline Booking Platform

Booking a flight looks simple, but the systems behind it are not. When we started working on Namasteudan, we had to solve several connected problems:

• Travellers compare fares across several apps and websites, and full-service and low-cost airlines are rarely shown side by side with clear fare rules.
• When an airline cancels, travellers are left to chase rebooking or refunds on their own.
• Airline content arrives through different channels and formats, each with its own rules for pricing, seats and changes.
• Bookings must be exact: prices change between search and payment, holds expire, and a double booking is never acceptable.
• Travel agents needed their own tools for markups, wallets, holds and commissions, separate from the consumer experience.

The core challenge for us was:

How do we make booking a flight, and handling what happens when it goes wrong, simple for travellers and agents, on top of complex airline systems?

We built Namasteudan around one booking core that every app shares, so travellers, agents and the operations team always work from the same fares, bookings and rules.

1. One Search Across 25+ Airlines

We made search fast and complete:

• One-way, round-trip and multi-city search for domestic and international routes
• Full-service and low-cost airlines side by side, with fare families and clear baggage and refund rules
• Sorting by best, cheapest, fastest and earliest
• A fare calendar, saved searches and price-drop alerts

2. Flight Protection Guarantee

The feature that defines the product:

• Every eligible booking is monitored for disruptions after purchase
• If the airline cancels, the traveller chooses: an alternative flight at no extra cost or a full refund
• A guided claims flow in the app, with the decision staying in the traveller's hands
• A dedicated operations view for the team to act on airline cancellations quickly

3. A Complete Booking Journey

From fare to boarding, everything happens in one flow:

• Fare selection with Saver, Value and Flexi options for each leg
• Seat maps, extra baggage and meals, with photos of the meals
• Travel insurance options, coupons and referral rewards
• Secure payments, with e-tickets and GST invoices sent automatically

4. Self-Service Trip Management

We gave travellers control after booking:

• A single My Trips view for upcoming, completed and cancelled trips
• Date changes and cancellations with an upfront refund quote before confirming
• Cancelling one traveller without touching the rest of the booking
• Boarding passes and trip sharing with family

5. Booking Portal for Travel Agents

Travel agents get their own portal built for how they work:

• Agency registration with KYC verification
• Sub-users with owner and staff roles
• Configurable markups, wallet top-ups and booking on behalf of customers
• Seat holds with automatic expiry, commission statements and group booking requests

6. Unified Airline Connectivity

Behind the apps, we connected Namasteudan to airline content through Travelport:

• Full-service carriers through the GDS, low-cost carriers and airline NDC content, all behind one layer
• Every fare normalised into one format, so all apps show prices the same way
• Careful handling of booking calls: searches can be retried, but a booking is never sent twice
• Identical searches arriving together are combined, keeping results fast under load

7. Web Platform & Operations Back Office

The same experience runs on the web, with a full back office behind it:

• A fast, responsive website for search, booking, offers and trip management
• Background jobs for notifications, ticket PDFs, disruption checks and fare-drop alerts
• An admin panel for bookings, refunds, payments, coupons and fee settings for domestic and international trips
• Role-based admin access, audit logs and fraud controls
